Borderlands 4 Global Release Times Confirmed

Looter shooter Borderlands 4 is almost here, jam-packed with gazillions of the weirdest weapons you’ll ever see, outrageous enemies, and intense co-op action as you break free from a dangerous hidden planet as one of four new badass Vault Hunters.

While plenty fell in love with Borderlands 3 and its improvements to the looter-shooter series’ gunplay, others still struggle with its joke-fueled story and reliance on toilet humor. It will have been almost six years since its launch when Borderlands 4’s September 12, 2025 release date arrives, with hopes to deliver a much more “grounded” story and tone this time around.

Here’s when the game will unlock for you in your timezone on your platform, as confirmed by Gearbox earlier this week. You’ll notice PC, console, and Nintendo Switch 2 launch times all vary depending upon where you are, so make sure you double-check! And no, there’s no way to unlock early access, I’m afraid.

It’s worth noting that though Borderlands 4’s official release date is September 12, it will be playable on PC on September 11 instead. On PT time zones, it will be playable on console on September 11, too.

This week Gearbox development chief Randy Pitchford said the inbound Borderlands 4 Day 1 patch “does a lot,” amid concern about the performance of the looter shooter. Pitchford responded to concern about Borderlands 4’s pre-release performance on PC from some users on X / Twitter, confirming not only that there’s a Day 1 patch on the way, but that it sounds pretty much essential to play the game.
